tour update and facebook 0

Oct31

I made a facebook fan page, yep. Supposedly it’s the thing to do lately because everyone has forgot the login info to their myspace pages and don’t care if they find it. Facebook seems nice and all, I’ve had one for a while. You can find random pictures of yourself that friends post and the ads aren’t quite as stupid and bombarding. But on the artistic side it makes me kind of annoyed. You can’t do anything cool with it at all. I still get a kick out of pimping out my own myspace page. Unfortunately, less and less people even notice when I do. I don’t blame them, I don’t spend as much time looking at people’s myspace pages either. Ahhh the bonds of being tied to the waves of pop-internet culture.

Anyways, I made a fan page on facebook. So, if you have one, check it out to keep updated on tours and recordings and such if you don’t use myspace anymore. Just click the little “f” link on the right sidebar.

In other news, my san fran show got cancelled and rescheduled. It will now be on November 23rd at EL Rio.

The time has arrived to announce some exciting things!

This project is very different than any I’ve released. It’s a benefit EP for an incredible Non Profit Organization that I am so excited about. Krochet Kids International was started by a few guy friends I met in High School. They loved crocheting hats and were extremely good at it. Combined with a beautiful vision to go out and help impoverished people around the world they started Krochet Kids International. Several years later, it is now a functioning project that helps empower people through education and employment with a foundation of supportive love.

I can’t even describe how excited I am about supporting Krochet Kids and I’m so excited to invite you into it. Every penny of the sale of this new EP will go directly to Krochet Kids. In fact, the only place you can purchase the EP is at my shows and on the Krochet Kids website. www.krochetkids.org

The EP is called Followed and it has five songs. Four of those songs I recorded at the same time as The Breaking of Our Days, my last full length album with Kory Kruckenberg. One of the songs is quite fresh. I recorded it and had the fabulous Caleb Ingersoll mix it to perfection. All the songs were then mastered by Mr. T.W. Walsh of the Soft Drugs. The feel of the EP is more melancholy than my last release. Maybe a bit more suited for those of you who thoroughly enjoyed Bitter Blue.

To promote the EP and raise awareness about KKI I have booked my second full band tour down the West Coast. Caleb Ingersoll, Zac Fairbanks and Kory Kruckenberg will be joining me in accompaniment. Here’s a list of our shows, please try to make it out to support Krochet Kids and enjoy some good music.

Here’s the title track from the EP which you can also hear on myspace…add it to your profile! We’ve been playing this one live since april and often hear that it reminds people of pink floyd? haha, weird. Features Chris Gilliam, Zac Fairbanks, Henry Nordstrom and Scott Ellis.

I’ve learned a lot about bluegrass since staying in Boston which has been important because Kimber roped me into singing with her new traditional bluegrass band tomorrow night! I’m just singing a few songs and am having a really good time belting out these tunes. Not to mention, these people are incredible musicians. Here’s a photo and clip from our rehearsal today!
